Welcome to Atlanta Politics Online

Atlanta Politics Online was born of the need to provide a single political new source to those that live in Metro Atlanta. Our goal is to provide you insight and commentary on the issues that mean most to us. Political issues that affect our families, our lives and ourselves will be the focus of our blog. We will strive to provide Metro Atlanta the political coverage that the "Capital of the South" deserves.

We have lined up our first contributors, and they should be familiar to politically inclined Georgians:

Charles Jackson - Charles attended Atlanta public schools and the University of Georgia. He graduated with an M.A. degree in political science from Georgia State University and is a U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Jackson got hooked on politics as a high school senior and then as a freshman at the University of Georgia. He has since compiled an extensive background in politics, working in numerous campaigns and serving on the staffs of several Georgia elected officials. A keen observer of current events and politics, Mr. Jackson's written commentaries are insightful, vibrant and witty. A self-described humorist and classical conservative - with a dash of populist libertarianism - Mr. Jackson is a history buff, avid reader and sports fan. He lives in Atlanta.

Linda Powell - Linda Powell is a devout Catholic and a Lay Missionary of the Gospel of Life. She will be taking her final vows in October 2008. Linda has worked with GRTL since February of 2005. She started publicly championing the pro-life cause as a GRTL Chapter Leader in Barrow County. She also worked as the Respect Life Coordinator at her parish. Linda have been involved in pro-life work for about 20 years. She is the former publisher of the Pro-life Psychologist. Ms. Powell earned her PhD in Psychology and taught for 14 years at the college level.

George Dienhart - The Editor and Publisher of Georgia Politics Online has been a political junkie his whole life. Having become one of the top political bloggers in the State of Illinois, Mr. Dienhart has accepted the challenge of setting up and running a group blog for residents of his new home, Georgia. Mr. Dienhart has interviewed Presidential candidates (Mitt Romney and John McCain) as well as conservative media stars (Matt Margolis and Bay Buchanan. He is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Dienhart lives in South Suburban Atlanta with his wife and their four children.

Look for updates from these bloggers, and some surprises in the upcoming weeks of our "beta test". If you have an interest in writing for Atlanta Politics Online, please email atlantapoliticsonline (@) Yahoo.com
